PartyPoker announced it will hold its first Million National event at the Sochi Casino and Resort.
The event features a $1,100 buy-in and a $1 million guaranteed prize pool, with $200,000 guaranteed for first place. The event will combine both online and live elements. The first two of the five opening days take place online at PartyPoker on March. 12 and 19 with the last three opening days taking place at Sochi Casino and Resort on March 24, 25 and 26, the company said in a press release.
“Hosting the first PartyPoker Million National event in Russia is a truly exciting opportunity for PartyPoker and our players,” Group Head of PartyPoker Tom Waters said in a press release. “We will be the first global poker operator to offer live poker at the brand new Sochi Casino and Resort, crowning our inaugural PartyPoker Million National champion.”
Casinos are prohibited through most of Russia with the exception of four gaming zones. Sochi was named one of those zones in 2014. The Sochi Casino and Resort was scheduled to open January 20, 2017.
