Pennsylvania Board Issues Fines

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has issued fines to three casinos for violating state gaming laws, including two instances of violating self-exclusion rules.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has issued fines to both Pittsburgh-area casinos, Rivers Casino and the Meadows, and Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino, for violations of state gambling laws.

Rivers, on the north shore of the Allegheny River across from downtown Pittsburgh, was fined $7,500 for permitting a person to work as a table games dealer for 16 days even though his application for the renewal of his gaming employee permit had been denied. The Meadows, in Washington County south of Pittsburgh, was fined $40,000 for permitting two men to gamble who had placed themselves on the state’s self-exclusion list, and for sending promotions to players on the list.

Philadelphia’s SugarHouse casino also was fined a total of $33,000 for allowing people on the exclusion list to gamble on two different occasions—one in which the gambler was at the table games nearly five hours.

Separately, SugarHouse was fined $15,000 for allowing two players banned from casinos by the state as professional offenders or cheats to play poker for two and a half hours.
