Pennsylvania iLottery Achieves iCAP Certification

The Pennsylvania Lottery recently achieved Internet Compliance Assessment Program certification for its iLottery platform, developed and managed primarily by Scientific Games. The certification confirms the Pennsylvania Lottery’s iLottery program, launched in May 2018, complies with the National Council on Problem Gambling’s Internet Responsible Gambling Standards. Held by just a few U.S. lotteries, iCAP certification standards are the highest in the nation for responsible online programs. It is the first and only U.S.-based online responsible gambling assessment program for lotteries.

NCPG created the Internet Responsible Gambling Standards based on best practices in online responsible gambling from jurisdictions worldwide. Many subsequently have been included in legislation, regulation and platforms in states with legalized internet lottery games.

Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko said, “By working with Scientific Games, the Lottery team and Responsible Gambling experts in the industry, we were able to take a deeper dive into our iLottery program’s Responsible Gambling Initiative and ensure we are doing the right thing. This certification is testimony of our commitment to ensure that we are providing iLottery players with responsible gaming tools they need to manage their play responsibly.”

NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte stated, “We congratulate the Pennsylvania Lottery on achieving the iCAP certification. Our rigorous assessment process provides the Lottery and Scientific Games with specific, actionable feedback to help better protect players and reduce problem gambling-related harm.”

Scientific Games Lottery Group Chief Executive Pat McHugh commented, “Scientific Games is committed to responsible gambling principles, including ensuring our platforms and programs comply with the Internet Responsible Gambling Standards while offering commercially successful, high-quality digital games.”

McHugh added Scientific Games encourages its lottery customers to achieve responsible gambling certifications such as iCAP. The company is a member of NCPG and other responsible gaming organizations around the world. The company was among the first to be certified by the World Lottery Association as a Responsible Gaming Supplier and is the first lottery supplier to join the Global Lottery Monitoring System.
