Dowinn Group, a VIP junket with operations at a number of Philippine casinos, closed abruptly on the evening of Monday, June 17 due to what it called “unjust defamation by external forces.” No further details were forthcoming, but the firm said the shutdown was temporary and promised to reopen by 2 p.m. on Monday, June 24.
A company spokesperson told GGRAsia that the “emergency temporary” suspension was called to “protect the valuable interests of our customers and shareholders” as rumors circulate about the company’s collapse. Dowinn promised to “pursue civil and criminal charges to hold those responsible accountable. We have established a dedicated legal team to thoroughly address this issue.”
In a letter, Dowinn Group further stated that for more than a decade, it has “diligently fulfilled its responsibilities as a reputable company. We have adhered to all regulations set forth by the Philippine government and strived to earn the trust of our customers.
“Despite this, our operations have been disrupted by unjust external attacks and slander.”
But Inside Asian Gaming cited “multiple credible sources” who said Dowinn has closed accounts at all its casino and VIP club operations and removed its managers, who in some cases have already left the country. One source said the company is in “complete collapse.” The Dowinn website is currently inactive and the domain name is now available for sale.
Dowinn insists it is viable and will resume operations, saying, “To our supportive government customers, partners and Dowinn staff, let us transform this crisis into a chance for renewed strength. Dowinn Group stands with you in overcoming this challenge.”
Dowinn had locations at City of Dreams Manila, Heritage Hotel & Casino, the Okada Resort & Casino, Solaire Resort & Casino, Clark D’Heights Resort & Casino and the Royce Hotel & Casino.
