The Mohegan Tribe has announced that Ray Pineault is to depart from his role as president and CEO of its Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment business.
Mohegan said Pineault will officially stand down from the position on December 28 to spend more time with his family.
Pineault took on the role in April 2021 and has also been chief operating officer of Mohegan Sun since August 2020. Prior to this, he was regional president of Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment and spent time as president and general manager of Mohegan Sun.
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority said it will now take “appropriate steps” to facilitate a smooth transition of management.

Commenting on his exit, Pineault said that the “time is right” for him to step down as CEO. He added that it had been an “honor” to lead the business.
“I am proud of the work we’ve been able to accomplish, including the successful refinancing earlier this year, and want to thank the Tribal Council and the Mohegan Tribe, who have entrusted me with this responsibility,” Pineault said.
“To my fellow colleagues and the thousands of Mohegan team members across the U.S. and Canada, thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. It has been my honor to work alongside such a talented team who continuously strive for excellence.”
Tribal Council Chairman James Gessner Jr. added: “Being the head of an organization, especially an international business, comes with immense responsibility, unrelenting hours and a willingness to make personal sacrifices for the betterment of his fellow Tribal members and the thousands of Mohegan employees who rely on his leadership and guidance.
“On behalf of the Board and our Tribe, we thank you for all you have done to protect every Mohegan for 13 generations to come. We wish happiness and blessings in the next part of your journey.”
