The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County has cleared the way for the creation of the BetRivers Lounge, a sports lounge at the PPG Paints Arena of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, where fans will be able to place mobile bets on BetRivers.com while watching games.
The lounge, expected to open next month, is a partnership between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the city’s Rivers Casino. It will feature two rows of luxury seating, designed to resemble the sportsbook lounge at the casino. It is being built by removing several rows of seating at the top of the lower section of the arena.
The BetRivers Lounge will include multiple live-action video screens and a bar. It is being built at a cost of around $2.3 million. Under its lease with the exhibition authority, the Penguins are responsible for the construction cost and all maintenance costs.
Currently, Pennsylvania Covid-19 restrictions limit attendance at indoor games to 25 percent capacity.
