PKR.com Launches Live Casino Product

Opening a live online poker site when the norm is minimalist sites may seem counterintuitive. PKR.com is gambling that enough players will want the full 3-D poker experience that they will sign up.

PKR.com is the newest online casino operator, opening an online poker site that swims against the stream by operating a 3-D poker experience that is the polar opposite of the minimalist approach that some many online casinos employ.

PKR.com, which entered the market a decade ago, is known for its graphically intensive games that give players full-bodied avatars that physically go through all of the motions on a table.

Players pay for this realistic feel with a much slower game, which attracts players who play for fun and who like the mimic the experience of the real deal rather than to win lots of hands and maximize their winnings.

Despite what some would call a handicap PKR has not only survived it has thrived. Recently it partnered with Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) and together their launched their live casino.

PKR CEO Chris Welch hailed the launch with this statement: “Poker is still in our DNA but on the back of record casino revenues this year, the addition of live casino is really exciting,” said PKR CEO Chris Welch in a press release. “Further radical transformation of the business and continued growth can take us to the next level, with more products which fit our ‘realistic’ ethos coming soon.”

The new online casino offers a limited number of tables and a limited number of seats and a real dealer. There are online options that are not available in a brick and mortar environment, such as being able to make bets even if the player isn’t sitting at the table.

The live games are streamed from Latvia and Malta.
