Plans for ‘Vegas Loop’ Approved

The Clark County Commission last week unanimously approved plans by the Boring Company to build an underground transportation corridor called the “Vegas Loop,” that will extend through the Las Vegas resort corridor, Allegiant Stadium and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, eventually extending to McCarran International Airport.

The Boring Company’s Vegas Loop system will comprise 29 miles of tunnel. Once complete, the 51-station network will connect various hotels and other destinations between Allegiant Stadium and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The company now needs to obtain the necessary permits before it can start excavating. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the franchise agreement would require a franchise fee to be paid quarterly to the county—0.5 percent of revenue less than or equal to $17.5 million.

Boring’s first commercial project, the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop, opened in June.
