The Clark County Commission has OK’d plans to bring a luxury 720-room non-gaming hotel pegged at $850 million to the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.
Developer Lorenzo Doumani, owner of Majestic Resorts, plans to build the Majestic Las Vegas, as it’s called, on six acres on Convention Center Drive where several hotels and casinos have stood at various times, the Debbie Reynolds and the Greek Isles, among them.
At one point, the World Wrestling Federation owned the property and planned to develop a “wrestling”-themed casino before selling the site in 2000.
The last operation there, the 14-story Clarion hotel, was purchased by Doumani in 2014 and demolished the following year.
The 45-story Majestic will be a five-star offering, Doumani told the commission, providing an “intimate” and “classy” environment whose features will include 10 floors of meetings and conventions space, a wellness spa and an array of restaurants.
He said he plans to break ground next spring and open in 2023.
