Playtech Gets Top Bookmaker

Ian Chuter, a 25-year gaming industry expert and winner of the 2010 Bookmaker of the Year and Operator of the Year awards, has joined Playtech as a strategic advisor focused on gaming, sports betting, and M&A. Chuter formerly worked for Betfair, William Hill, and the Rank Group and negotiated William Hills online gaming agreement with Playtech.

Long-time gaming industry expert Ian Chuter has joined Playtech as a strategic advisor with a specific focus on gaming, sports betting, and M&A.

“Ian is one of the best operators in the business and has a proven track record of managing large-scale transformational projects and delivering great success everywhere he has worked,” said Playtech COO Shimon Akad.

“We’re delighted he has chosen to join Playtech and I’m confident he will be an invaluable member of the senior management team as we continue to grow this incredible business.”

Chuter, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the gaming industry, will join Playtech on November 2, after spending the past 4.5 years at Betfair, where he was responsible for risk, fraud, payment, customer services, and sports operations.

Chuter also worked a decade at William Hill, where he went from overseeing retail and online operations to all gaming and sportsbook operations, and became William Hill group director of operations for both the UK and international arms of the business in January 2009.

Chuter negotiated the William Hill Online joint venture agreement with Playtech in 2008, in which William Hill acquiring Playtech’s 29 percent stake for more than $500 million in March 2013.

Chuter began his gaming career as sales and marketing director at the Rank Group, eventually joining William Hill in 2001.

Chuter won the prestigious Bookmaker of the Year and Retail Operator of the Year awards, both in 2010.
