Plaza Upgrading Pool Experience

A 50,000-square-foot expansion of the pool area at the Plaza in Las Vegas will add more than just cabanas and poolside daybeds, as the resort improves is experience for visitors. The Plaza is adding recreational courts for tennis, basketball, and pickle ball, plus foosball and other games, and a performance stage, among its many new improvements.

Pools are a big part of the resort experience, and the Plaza in Las Vegas is undertaking a significant upgrade of its pool facilities.

The Downtown resorts is adding six cabana suites with TVs, furniture, and a refrigerator, while several luxurious daybeds will be added for sunbathers and poolside lounging.

The poolside improvements are part of a 50,000-sqauare-foot expansion, which will more than triple the Plaza’s pool area to 70,000 square feet. The idea is to make the pool area more like Palm Springs and less like a trendy dayclub.

With that new space, the Plaza is adding tennis, basketball, and pickle ball courts. Pickle ball is similar to ping pong and is played in a court similar to a racquetball.

The Plaza also is adding foosball, ping pong, and sandbag-toss games to provide additional recreational opportunities, which should help boost appeal among younger visitors.

Overlooking the entire pool area will be a performance stage, where live performers and DJs will entertain the crowds. The new stage also will help to support the annual Big Blues Bender blues festival scheduled at the Plaza in September, and other live events.

The pool improvements will establish the Plaza as one of the top poolside destinations in Downtown Las Vegas, rivaling the Golden Nugget’s shark-filled The Tank pool on Fremont Street and The Grand’s Picnic pool area.

The improvements should be completed within six weeks, allowing the pool to open in time for the summer pool season.
