Poarch Band Buys Caribbean Properties

A subsidiary of Wind Creek Hospitality, the gaming authority of the Atmore, Alabama-based Poarch Band of Creek Indians, recently acquired the Aruba Renaissance Resort & Casino (l.) and the Curacao Renaissance Resort & Casino. The upscale destinations will maintain the Renaissance brand and all employees are expected to keep their jobs.

The Aruba Renaissance Resort & Casino and the Curacao Renaissance Resort & Casino have been purchased by a subsidiary of Wind Creek Hospitality, the gaming authority of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians based in Atmore, Alabama. Tribal Chair Stephanie Bryan said “We are thrilled to add these incredible properties to our Wind Creek portfolio. We look forward to being part of the communities in Aruba and in Curacao. I know our guests will love being able to travel to two of the best Caribbean destinations as part of our Wind Creek Rewards program.”

The upscale resorts will continue to operate under the Renaissance brand, a registered trademark of Marriott. All current employees are expected to keep their jobs.

Located in downtown Oranjestad, Aruba’s capital, the Aruba Renaissance Resort & Casino offers two hotels with 431 rooms, numerous dining options, two shopping malls including luxury retailers, 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space plus a 40-acre private island.

The Renaissance Curacao Resort and Casino, adjacent to the port and downtown Willemstad, Curacao’s capital, is built within and around the 19th century landmark and UNESCO World Heritage site Rif Fort. It offers 237 rooms and suites, dining options, the open-air Renaissance Mall and the exclusive Infinity Beach Club.
