PokerStars Announces Russian Live Event

PokerStars has announced it will hold the PokerStars Championship Sochi from May 20 to May 31, including a $1.6 million main event. The tournament seems intended to upstage Party Poker’s Million National Sochi event scheduled for this month.

PokerStars appears to be one-upping Party Poker’s Million Sochi event this month by announcing a bigger live event schedule for May.

The PokerStars Championship Sochi is scheduled from May 20 to May 31 and includes a $1.6 million main event. Party Poker’s event has a $1 million guaranteed main event.

The tournament is part of PokerStars’ championship schedule and features a $5,590 main event, a substantially higher buy-in than the $1,000 buy-in Party Poker event.
