PokerStars has Immediate Impact in New Jersey

The addition of PokerStars to the New Jersey online market had an immediate impact on the state’s online industry, which posted its largest monthly take in two years in March. PokerStars New Jersey was only operational for less than two weeks in March, but seems certain to become the market leader in the state.

PokerStars online launch in New Jersey has made an immediate impact on the state’s online poker industry and the site seems to be quickly moving to the top of the market.

Though only operational for 11 days in March, PokerStars New Jersey took in $597,677, good for a 24 percent market share. Of the 11 days, five of those days included the site’s “soft launch” where players were capped at 500.

According to figures release by the state Division of Gaming Enforcement, New Jersey’s three poker operators took in $2,461,064 in March, up 23.4 percent over February and 10.5 percent over March 2015.

For the month, all New Jersey sites took in $15,507,459 for a 5.1 percent increase over February.

PokerStars does seem to already be siphoning off customers form other poker operators, according to an analysis by USpoker.com.

PartyPoker/BorgataPoker saw revenue drop from $1,061,706 to $1,033,380 – a 2.7 percent drop. Last March, the operator’s revenue climbed 11.4 percent.

The partnership of WSOP.com and 888 Poker posted its lowest monthly tally ($830,007) since September 2015, down 11 percent over February.

Projecting the PokerStars figures over the full month, the website conclude the site would have brought in $1.16 million, enough to top Borgata as the No. 1 operator in the market.

April has traditionally been a slower month for the state’s online sites, but with PokerStars now in the mix the New Jersey online market should expect another strong increase, the website concluded.
