Bet Entertainment Technologies Ltd. has received a license from Portugal’s gambling regulator, Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos to offer online sports betting in the country.
The company is only the second online operator to be licensed by Portugal. Betclic Everest Group became the first online sports betting operator to be licensed in May.
Bet Entertainment has launched a Portuguese website operated on platform by developer and provider SBTech. The company said a press statement that it would work hard on securing its “place of reference” in the local market.
Portuguese lottery operator Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisboaand and land-based casino operator Solverde have also expressed interest in running an online gambling website in the country.
Portugal introduced new online gambling regulations last year, but has been slow in approving online sports betting licenses. Licenses for online operators offering games such as poker have been delayed, and it is not expected that the regulator will issue any licenses in that arena until at least November.
