Portugal to Review Gambling Laws

Portugal’s government is expected to review the country’s gambling laws in 2018. Portugal first began regulating gaming in 2015 and began licensing international operators in 2016. The review would be part of the country’s budget outline for 2018.

Portugal only began regulating gambling in 2015, but local reports say the country’s government will review its gambling laws as part of its 2018 budget deliberations.

The review could lead to an expansion of the country’s online gambling laws and proposed regulations for national and international liquidity for different online gaming and betting services. The country recently entered into a shared online poker liquidity agreement with France, Italy, and Spain.

Analysts said the country may also seek to allow an expansion of online sports betting, according to the reports.
