Online gaming revenue in Portugal jumped 81.9 percent for the second quarter over the first. This dramatic rise was fueled by a 224.5 percent jump in sports betting revenue, according to the country’s gaming regulator.

Portugal’s online gaming revenue increased 81.9 percent for the second quarter over the second quarter of 2020, a rise driven primary by a 224.5 percent rocketing increase in sports betting, according to Serviço de Regulação Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) the country’s gaming regulator.

Overall gaming revenue was €125.0 million (£105.9 million/$146.5 million) compared to €68.7 million for the same period in 2020, but was down from €128.3 million for the first quarter of 2021.

Soccer was the most popular sport to bet on in Portugal.
