Potawatomi Hold Topping-Off Ceremony

A topping-off ceremony recently was held for the Forest County Potawatomi Community’s $80 million expansion at its Potawatomi Hotel & Casino near downtown Milwaukee. The tribe is constructing a second hotel tower with 119 suites. The 180,000 square foot expansion, featuring a spa and additional meeting space, will be connected to the 381-room, 19-story tower completed in August 2014. With a total of 500 rooms, the Potawatomi Hotel will be the city’s second largest when it’s completed in spring 2019.

Tribal Chairman Ned Daniels Jr. said, “This hotel project is important not only to the continued success of the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino to offer a first-rate entertainment option to Milwaukee and beyond, but also to continue fuel our tribe’s investment in Milwaukee.” He said work on the 225-foot tall project is proceeding quickly because the when the first tower was built in 2014, an L-shaped foundation was poured in anticipation of future expansion.

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino opened in 1991 as a 40,000 square foot bingo hall. Today it employs approximately 2,700 people and the expansion is expected to add 50 new hotel jobs.
