Potawatomi Seeking Arena Naming Rights

The Milwaukee Bucks' new arena (l.) will open for the 2018-2019 NBA season, but the owners want to announce naming rights by November—and the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino is among those seeking those rights. BMO Harris Bank of Chicago, which owns the rights to the team's current stadium, is also in discussions.

Potawatomi Hotel & Casino is among those discussing naming-rights possibilities for the Milwaukee Bucks’ new stadium. BMO Harris Bank also is talking to Bucks co-owners Marc Lasry and Jamie Dinan, who said they hope to finalize naming rights before November. “We’re in a lot of discussions right now,” said Lasry, who noted the Bucks would prefer a local naming-rights sponsor. The new arena is expected to be completed for the 2018-2019 NBA season.

BMO Harris Bank of Chicago holds the rights at the Bucks’ current home arena, the BMO Harris Bradley Center. “BMO thinks this is a real core market and they have their name on the Bradley Center. I would be shocked if they don’t want to keep their association with Milwaukee. You’ve got the Potawatomi tribe with the casino that is a very, very vibrant valuable business,” Dinan said.

Previously Bucks President Peter Feigin said main naming rights for the new arena could generate up to $6 million annually, but Dinan recently said the value has gone up. Team co-owner Wes Edens stated the Bucks plan to sell a range of sponsorships and naming rights options.
