Prairie Band Breaks Ground On Expansion

Ground was broken for expansions at the Prairie Band Casino & Resort in Mayetta, Kansas, owned by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. Set for completion in October 2020, the project will include a 74-room hotel tower, indoor/outdoor pools, spa and fitness center, convention space, dining options and a game room with virtual Top Golf.

The Prairie Band Casino & Resort in Mayetta, Kansas recently broke ground on the second phase of renovations. General Manager Bill Marsh said, “This is the biggest leap in the history, I believe, of the Prairie Band Casino and Resort. It changes things a lot here at Prairie Band. Previously we focused solely on gaming, and now we’re expanding to be able to offer the entire resort and gaming experience.” He added, “From beginning to end, from the time you enter the new facility to the time you leave we’re wanting to offer the entire resort experience.”

The project will include casino floor renovations, plus a new 74-room hotel tower with an indoor/outdoor pool, full-service spa, fitness center, additional convention space and a game room with virtual Top Golf. Also, a new lobby bar, Kapi Coffee Bar and Embers Bar and Grille will be added.

Marsh said the expansion, scheduled for completion in October 2020, will create several new construction and permanent jobs. Prairie Band Potawatomi Entertainment President Frank Tecumseh added, “Our continued vision is to be a premier employer. With this expansion we will be adding positions, which will give current staff career growth as well as offer new opportunities for employment in the area.”

The casino is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
