Prairie Band Potawatomi tribal member Jacob “Tug” Wamego recently assumed the titles of president and chief executive officer of the Kansas-based Prairie Band LLC. He has served as the interim president and chief executive officer since May 2016. Wamego succeeds Burton Warrington, who held the president and CEO role of Prairie Band LLC from 2011 to mid-2016.
Wamego had been the company’s business development manager and legal counsel since 2014. He has worked with tribal governments in the areas of Indian gaming, government contracting, business development and strategic planning for more than 15 years, and has extensive knowledge of tribal, federal and state laws and regulations. A licensed attorney in the state of Kansas and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, Wamego earned a bachelor of science degree from Washburn University, a master of business administration degree from Friends University and a juris doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law.
“I am excited to lead Prairie Band LLC as it continues to reach new heights. We have a dedicated team of employees who are focused on accomplishing great things here at Prairie Band,” Wamego said.
The tribe formed Prairie Band LLC, a wholly owned holding company, 2010 to diversify, manage and expand the economic interests of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation beyond Indian gaming. The company owns and operates the Prairie Band Casino & Resort in Mayetta, Kansas, as well as the subsidiaries Prairie Band Capital, Potawatomi Retail, Prairie Band Health Services, Prairie Band Propane and Prairie Band Construction.
