‘Project Forward’ Upgrades Winnebago Casinos

The Wisconsin Winnebago Tribe will expand and upgrade Ho-Chunk casinos at Wisconsin Dells, Black River Falls and Wittenberg through a $153 million program named "Project Forward," set to begin next month and add 100 jobs. Plans encompass new hotels, expanded gaming floors, additional slots and upgraded dining options.

The Wisconsin Winnebago Tribe announced a 3 million expansion program, “Project Forward,” at three Ho-Chunk gaming venues in Wisconsin Dells, Black River Falls and Wittenberg. The project will add 100 jobs, bringing total employment to 3,400.

Work is expected to start next month, said Tribal President Wilfrid Cleveland. “We are extremely excited to grow and offer new amenities that will only enhance one of the best entertainment experiences in the region. It’s a win-win for everyone when we can create more jobs throughout Wisconsin and add more value to our guest’s experience,” Cleveland said. A statement from the tribe indicated “Groundbreaking ceremonies with tribal and local dignitaries will kick off construction projects at each property.”

At Wisconsin Dells, “Project Forward” will add a new main entrance, bar and lobby at the hotel, and upgrade the bingo and buffet areas. The gaming floor will be completely redesigned and will include a new poker room and off-track betting facility plus an expanded non-smoking area.

At Wittenberg, plans include adding an 84-seat restaurant and bar and an 86-room hotel. Also, 272 slots and 10 table games will be added to the gaming floor, plus new high-limit and non-smoking gambling areas.

And at Black River Falls, “Project Forward” will add a new 120-room hotel and an expanded and redesigned gaming floor with 200 more slots and a high-limit area. A new parking lot and remodeled buffet with 36 added seats also are planned.
