A public hearing will be held October 30 regarding an Environmental Impact Report on the Chemehuevi Tribe’s proposed 25,000 square foot casino, to be built on a 1.29 acre tract north of the tribe’s existing Havasu Landing Casino in Havasu Lake, California.
the new facility would feature a 10,000 square foot gaming floor with 320 electronic machines and six gaming tables, plus a 48-room hotel and a marina, for which the EIR already was approved.
Tribal Planner Bill Cox said the hearing “gives the general public a chance to express their concerns, if any. The council will vote whether or not to accept. If they accept our report and approve we can go ahead with the construction of the casino. Or they can find that the report or the public comments suggest that there are issues that need to be looked into, and construction would not proceed until the issues are addressed.” Cox also noted the council could reject the EIR, in which case a new one would have to be written.
