Push Underway for New York Bar Gaming

The Amusement and Music Owners Association of New York wants state gaming regulators to license its member businesses to introduce online gaming in clubs and bars.

The Amusement and Music Owners Association of New York (AMOA-NY) has teamed with Betson Enterprises to push for legalization of online gaming in New York bars and clubs.

Betson, a supplier of amusement equipment, and AMOA-NY want to member bars and clubs to become state-licensed online gaming-services providers to create a new revenue stream for New York bars and clubs as well as the state.

“This is important for our operators to remain competitive and embrace technology,” AMOA-NY President Ken Goldberg told Vending Times. “Today, customers can legally participate in gaming right from their cell phones, iPads and other electronic devices.

“Our challenge is to stay relevant and continue to demonstrate to our customers that we offer value and attractive entertainment options in our locations.”

Goldberg says state regulators failed to introduce successful off-track betting and other gaming services and claims its AMOA-NY member businesses are more experienced and qualified in such matters.
