Queensland Seeks Bids for Third Gaming License

Queensland is looking for bidders for a third casino license in the state. The opening occurred after the Aquis Group ditched plans to develop an AU$8.1 billion (US$6.2 billion) casino resort in Cairns.

Queensland, Australia CEO of State Development David Edwards is in the market for a third casino licensee in the state. The license went up for grabs after Hong Kong billionaire Tony Fung’s Aquis Group bowed out of its plan to build an AU.1 billion (US.2 billion) casino resort in Cairns.

Edwards said a $500 million property would be far more realistic for the jurisdiction, reported the Asia Gaming Brief. Fung opted to develop a resort without gaming due to changing market conditions.
