City council members in Quezon City, the Philippines have passed a regulatory ordinance that would assess an entry fee on any resident who wants to patronize a local casino. Residents would have to pay a fee of PHP1,500 (US$30) for every 24-hour period spent in a casino within the city limits, or PHP30,000 (US$580) per year.
The ordinance had been forwarded to the mayor’s office for final approval, though in March, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. said the Quezon City government does not have the authority to impose such a fee.
