Rhode Island’s sports betting revenue skyrocketed 828.6 percent over the previous year in July to $3.3 million while the amount wagered increased 229.9 percent.
This was attributed to the precipitous decline in betting last year due to the Covid pandemic, which reduced sports betting revenues at the state’s two casinos, Twin Rivers and Tiverton. to $351,425 last July.
This year, largely freed by Covid restrictions, revenues more than rebounded, even though the July revenues were 10.8 percent lower than the $3.7 million posted in June.
Mobile sports betting revenue in July was $1.7 million compared to $1.6 million for brick and mortar sports betting.
