Raiders Still Interested in Bali Hai Golf Course

The Las Vegas Raiders football team has set their cap on acquiring a hard-luck golf course in Las Vegas. The Raiders hope to buy the Bali Hai Golf Course so they can use it for off-site parking for their $1.33 billion stadium.

Raiders Still Interested in Bali Hai Golf Course

The NFL Raiders continue to be interested in acquiring the Bali Hai Golf Course, near to where they are building the $1.33 billion stadium where they have committed to play for 30 years.

They don’t want the property for golf, but for additional stadium parking and other uses.

In its report last week LVSportsBiz noted that the golf course is on BLM land that is involved in a lawsuit between the federal government and Clark County. The federal government sued because it alleged the County wasn’t collecting enough rent on the course. It seeks $75,536,455 in underpayments. The feds want to repossess the land, which is growing in value because of the stadium.

The Raiders want the land because although they have 62 acres for their project, they only have parking for 2,400 cars on the site. County code requires 16,250.

The golf course’s 155 acres is a short walk from the stadium. This makes it attractive to the NFL team for additional parking and other buildings that it might use to generate income.

Because the Raiders have a 30-year lease on the property, at least, LVSportsBiz speculates that it can afford to wait until the legal squall between the BLM and Clark County blows itself out.
