Ramirez Takes Oath as San Manuel Chairman

Kenneth Ramirez and other members of the San Manuel Indian Reservation’s Business Committee were sworn in last week, with Ramirez as chairman.

Ramirez was elected chairman after serving five terms as tribal secretary. He serves on the San Manuel Education Committee and the operating committee for First Nations Experience (FXN) the U.S.’s first Native American and World Indigenous Peoples TV channel.

Ramirez commented, “I am deeply humbled and honored by this opportunity to serve as chairman and give my commitment to serve diligently to enhance the rights, opportunities and expectations for all San Manuel tribal citizens, our families, and our community.”

Ramirez ousted Lynn Valbuena, the longtime chairwoman of the tribe, who is a member of the American Gaming Association’s Gaming Hall of Fame, in a tight election campaign.
