British gaming operator Rank Group has appointed Christopher Bell as a senior independent director. Bell, who will also become a member of Rank’s audit committee, has more than 20 years’ experience in the betting and gaming industry.
In 1994, Bell was named managing director of Ladbrokes Worldwide and in 2004 was appointed chief executive of the re-named Ladbrokes Plc, a role he held until May 2010.
He is currently non-executive chairman of AIM-listed companies XLMedia and TechFinancials, while also serving as a non-executive director of Spirit Pub Company and senior independent director of Quintain Estates & Development.
In addition, Bell is a board member of the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board, which advises the Gambling Commission and the U.K. government on policy and strategy in the gaming sector.
Rank Group Chairman Ian Burke said, “With his extensive experience of the gambling industry and his considerable corporate experience, I am delighted that Chris is joining the board of Rank and I look forward to working with him as we proceed to deliver our strategic priorities.”
