Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner recently appointed Jason Barclay, Rauner’s former general counsel, to the Illinois Racing Board, which regulates horseracing and wagering. The position pays $12,500 annually.
Barclay served on the Indiana Horse Racing Commission before moving to Illinois. He was a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP and also served as general counsel and policy director of Indian Governor Mitch Daniels’ campaign, then as general counsel for Rauner for two years. He left in 2016 to become general counsel and chief compliance officer at Athletico Physical Therapy, which operates more than 450 clinics in 11 states.
Barclay’s experience “will be invaluable to the Racing Board,” Rauner said.
