Related Companies, Wynn Detail Hudson Yards Proposal

Real estate developer Related Companies and partner Wynn Resorts have released new renderings of its proposed gaming development at Hudson Yards West in New York City.

Billed as the completion of the Hudson Yards neighborhood and the decades-long revitalization of Manhattan’s West Side, the proposed Wynn New York City would include a gaming resort and hotel, including dining options, bars, spas, and lounges. It also would include a 5.6-acre park surrounding the project’s 80-story central tower, which would include the casino.

The new development would also include a residential building and office space, along with a 5.6-acre park with access to the Javits Center and other nearby parks.

According to Wynn Resorts, Wynn New York City will be a catalyst for the development of the entire western half of Hudson Yards.

“Hudson Yards has already proven to be an unparalleled catalyst for the New York economy, first through tens of thousands of construction jobs and now as home to the world’s leading companies, retail and housing,” Jeff Blau, CEO of Related Companies, told the New York Post.  “Moving forward with the second phase of development presents an incredible opportunity to double the impact and provide generational benefits to the state, city, and especially our West Side neighbors.”

Craig Billings, CDO of Wynn Resorts, told the Post the quality of Wynn properties will spell more revenue for the state.

“As the leading designer, developer, and operator of premium gaming resorts in the world, Wynn New York City will attract luxury and aspirational travelers to our destination resort in Hudson Yards,” Billings said,  “Wynn guests consistently spend more when they travel. That results in greater tax revenues for the city and state and more spending in the local community, all with less foot traffic than might be required at other resorts.”

The project would provide 35,000 union construction jobs, 5,000 permanent careers in the resort, publicly accessible open space, affordable housing, a school, and more.

Wynn would provide a substantial community benefits program, security program and traffic mitigation plan, which all will be detailed in the partnership’s complete application to the state.
