Reno Gold Dust West Improvements

Gaming just got better at the Gold Dust West in Reno, which spent more than $5 million over the past year to improve the interior and amenities at the casino, which mostly caters to locals. The casino first opened in 1976 as a combination motel and casino.

The Gold Dust West in Reno has undergone more than million in improvements over the past 12 months and celebrated its new look with a reopening event this month.

Among costlier renovations are electrical improvements, installing air purifiers, renovating the restaurant and restrooms, new woodwork, lighting, and carpeting, and new walls, among many other improvements.

The upgrades occurred at a time when many casinos in the Reno-Sparks area are undergoing improvements.

The Grand Sierra Resort, Silver Legacy Resort Casino, and Nugget Casino Resort recently underwent tens of millions of dollars in renovations.

The Gold Dust West first opened in 1976 as the 106-room Gold Dust West Casino & Motor Lodge under then-owner John Cavanaugh.
