The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has approved a renovation project that will pump $435 million into the Las Vegas Convention Center to revamp the North, South and Central Exhibit Halls.
According to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the authority also approved a project to build a new section of the Vegas Loop, the underground transit system, with a connection to the Westgate Las Vegas resort.
The convention center project is Phase 3 of the overall construction project, which previously renovated the West Hall of the center. In addition to hall renovation, the latest phase will expand the entrance and lobby at the east entrance of the South Hall and permanently move LVCVA executive offices to the hall.
The project includes $2.8 million in preconstruction services and $432.2 million for construction. The total cost will be paid over five fiscal years, including $1 million to be spent this year.
