Report: Caesars Part of ASF Gold Coast Deal

Nevada-based gaming Caesars Entertainment reportedly may partner with the Chinese-backed ASF Consortium on its AU$3 billion resort complex on Australia’s Gold Coast. The U.S. firm would run the gaming side. ASF Director Louis Chien (l.) says Caesars is just “one of many”

Will Caesars Entertainment run the casino at a planned AU billion integrated resort on Australia’s Gold Coast? Could be.

According to multiple media reports, the U.S. gaming company is deep in talks with the Chinese-back ASF Consortium about the resort coming to the Southport Spit on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

The speculation began after Steve Tight, head of international development of Caesars Entertainment, was spotted in the area. It was confirmed by ASF Director Louis Chien, who told the Gold Coast Bulletin Caesars is “one of many” operators being considered. The group also may include James Packer’s Crown Resorts.

The ASF Consortium is made up of the Chinese state-run China State Construction Engineering Company and the ASF Group, reported CalvinAyre.com. The resort was originally planned for Wave Break Island, but later shelved due to local opposition. ASF is awaiting the release of public comments from Gold Coast residents, compiled in an April study.

The area currently hosts one casino: the Star Gold Coast, formerly Jupiters, now in the midst of an AU$1 billion renovation.
