The state government of India’s Andhra Pradesh is considering the legalization of casino gambling on ships that would occupy waters off the Visakhapatnam coast.
“The state has reached out to the center for these floating casinos off the Visakhapatnam coast,” a government official told local media.
The report comes after the state moved to ban online gambling last month.
Andhra Pradesh has an about 975-kilometer coastline along the Bay of Bengal.
The state is also exploring introducing a lottery, reports said.
