Report: Two-Thirds of U.S. Population Watched Super Bowl LVI

Based on a survey by the NFL and Nielsen Ratings, about two-thirds of the country watched the Super Bowl. Nielsen said the total audience averaged 112.3 million. But it grows to 208 million if you add those watching in groups and outside the home, as in a bar, according to the Associated Press.

The University of Chicago surveyed 5,000 households to arrive at the numbers.

“We are always looking for ways to more strongly collaborate with our clients to better understand who may be watching, and how they may be watching,” said Jon Stainer, Nielsen sports managing director for the Americas.

Nielsen also concluded almost 90 percent of all people using a television on February 13 watched the game.
