Reports: John Boyle to Step Down as CEO at BoyleSports

According to Irish media reports, John Boyle, founder and CEO of independent bookmaker BoyleSports is preparing to retire from the firm he founded in 1982. He is expected to announce a successor from within his family.

Irish media is reporting that John Boyle, founder and CEO of independent bookmaker BoyleSports is preparing to retire from the firm he founded in 1982.

The reports say he is expected to announce his CEO successor ‘from within his family’. Boyle will maintain a governance position within BoyleSports retaking the role of Executive Chairman.

“I’ve been CEO now since 2012, and that’s not my gig. My gig was retail and going out and finding stores. But I’ve gone in and I’ve enjoyed it for five years. I’m ready this year to step back from the frontline of being leader,” Boyle told the Sunday Independent.

At present Boyle’s daughters, Orla and Jenna hold senior executive positions within the firm, accompanied by son-in-law Conor Gray the firm’s current Director of International Development, the report said.

BoyleSports is Ireland’s second largest bookmaker, with a retail betting portfolio of more than 200 betting shops nationwide.
