In a world where simply checking how much money you have sometimes costs you money, companies have thrived on fees for seemingly every little thing. The casino-hotel industry is no different, as many people have seen resort fees come attached to their bill. Even the casinos in Downtown Las Vegas, who were once fee “free” have nearly all followed suit.
Some places you stay downtown may have a fee as low as $10, but if you are staying on the Strip, you can almost always expect to pay much, much more. Fees on the Strip are seen as high as $28, which is exactly what Benjamin Brin, a Studio City, California resident paid on his recent trip to Las Vegas at the Palazzo.
The booking website informed Brin his stay at the Palazzo last June would be $209 a night, but nowhere did it inform him of the $28 resort fee which was to be attached. Brian Kabateck, Brin’s attorney, finds the fees unconscionable and “fundamentally unfair” they are not publicized more.
The Las Vegas Sands, which owns the property, has declined to comment.
