Visitors to Las Vegas are getting a behind-the-scenes look at what makes Steve Wynn’s luxury resorts tick in a new series of master classes open to the public.
The idea, not surprisingly, came from gaming’s master impresario himself during the planning for last year’s New Year’s Eve festivities at Wynn Las Vegas, according to Michael Weaver, chief marketing officer for Wynn Resorts.
“Steve said if people could see what it was like to plan such detail, they would probably find it very interesting.”
Participants can learn about a day in the life of a sports book manager, make bread at the in-house bakery or learn how to design a floral arrangement, mix a cocktail or pick up the latest trends from a resident hair stylist.
”The classes enable guests to deepen the experience they have in the hotel. That can only be good for us,” said Weaver, who is overseeing the program with restaurants and sales Director Phil Romeo.
Wynn Las Vegas will host about 20 classes this year, each held in the afternoon and running around 90 minutes, with class sizes ranging from as few as eight people to as many as 45, depending on the subject matter. Costs start at $125 and top out at $150.
Weaver said plans are to expand the program to Wynn Resorts’ Macau and Boston hotels.
“Every indication is that this will become a permanent feature,” he said.
