Resorts Casino Hotel to Host PokerStars Tournament Opener

PokerStars will begin its international poker series on October 29 at the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Then the series will head out on the road to such locations as Bahamas, Barcelona, Monte-Carlo, Macau and Panama.

Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey will host the first PokerStars Festival tournament October 29 to November 6. The event will include more than 50 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from 0 to ,000.

Eric Hollreiser, PokerStars’ director of corporate communications, commented “We are committed to growing the poker market in New Jersey, and part of this strategy is to help make New Jersey the poker hub of America in November.”

PokerStars says that it has the largest most popular online poker sites and has dealt more than 155 billion hands. The event will see several well-known pros make an appearance, such as Jason Somerville, Chris Moneymaker and Vanessa Selbst.

The PokerStars Festival tournament is the first of two new brands that the operator will unveil this year. The second will be PokerStars Championship, which will include the European Poker Tour (EPT) and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA).

PokerStars declared that it would be making its biggest live events even bigger,” noting that the additions will take the tournament global, with confirmed stops at the Bahamas, Barcelona, Monte-Carlo, Macau and Panama.

The most attention will be paid to poker pros, and at least 100 tournaments lasting 10-11 days have been confirmed.

There will also be a Player of the Year competition that will be part of the Championship.

The series will culminate in an invitational winner-take-all tournament with a $100,000 first prize.
