Genting Singapore will undertake a comprehensive renovation of three hotels at Resorts World Sentosa during the second quarter of this year, reported Inside Asian Gaming. It’s part of a greater reinvestment in the property, totaling $287 million this year alone.
In 2019, Genting pledged to spend a total of $3.3 billion to add 164,000 square meters (40.5 square acres) of new leisure and entertainment space to the resort. RWS’s only competitor, Marina Bay Sands, will invest $1 billion to renovate its hotel rooms and suites over the next two years.
Genting Singapore said the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and resulting drop in customer traffic “presents a window of opportunity to renovate and refresh our hotel offerings.
“With a total key count of over 1,200 keys, three of our hotels, namely Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Hotel Michael and Festive Hotel, will progressively undergo renovation works starting from the second quarter of 2022,” it said.
“When completed, Festive Hotel will be completely transformed into a bleisure (business-leisure) and workation (work-vacation) hotel with a variety of mobile working spaces and lifestyle offerings.”
