Revel Atlantic City’s owners could be facing fines from Atlantic City for reportedly firing a team of engineers who oversaw the vacant building including its fire suppression system.

Acting fire chief Scott Evans told the Press of Atlantic City that a violation notice was delivered to the property. Evans said he is “very concerned” that the building does not have a trained, qualified engineer to over sea the fire suppression system.

Glenn Straub, owner of the property, told the paper that he felt the engineers were “overpaid” and he plans to bring in independent contractors to oversee the building.

Evans, however, said it was “borderline reckless” to leave the system unattended for any amount of time.

In another Revel matter, the Press reported that the federal judge handling Revel’s bankruptcy approved more than $17. 8 million in fees for attorneys, investment bankers and other professionals who worked on the case. The fees were mostly paid by Revel’s former owners which was funded by Wells Fargo.
