Revel-based Nightclub Fights to Stay Open

The HQ nightclub at Atlantic City’s closed Revel casino is fighting to re-open despite the casino being shuttered. The nightclub’s owners have asked a bankruptcy judge to stop Revel from blocking a re-opening.

The owners of HQ, a nightclub located at the closed Revel casino in Atlantic City have asked a federal bankruptcy judge to help it re-open.

IDEA Boardwalk LLC, which owns the club, asked U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Gloria Burns to stop Revel from blocking its efforts to re-open independent of the casino.

The nightclub has its own entrance and can operate independently from the casino, company officials said. They have been quick to point out that while Revel faltered, the club continued to do a steady business.

The company is seeking to “essentially put a wall between itself and the casino,” according to court filings. No decision on the filing was announced.

Burns has already approved a $110 million sale of Revel to Brookfield US Holdings LLC.  That company has not disclosed it plans for the site or whether it will allow the nightclub to keep operating as a tenant, but has said it expects to reopen as a casino.
