Rhode Island Casino on Schedule

Tiverton, Rhode Island’s new $75 million casino could open by July 2018. The Twin River Management Group says it will pursue an aggressive construction schedule for the casino, which will have 1,000 slots and 32 gaming tables.

The Twin River Management Group, developer of the million Tiverton casino on the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts, says it is pursuing an aggressive schedule to open by July 2018.

The casino will have 1,000 slot machines and 32 gaming tables.

The group is still obtaining approvals from the Tiverton planning board. It already has permits from the state Department of Environmental Management. It also needs permits from the town, the state Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies.

The developer also most get approvals for moving its existing casino license from Newport to Tiverton.

In November, the voters of Tiverton and the state voted to allow the move. Despite that loss the anti-casino group Save Tiverton continues to be active and to put whatever roadblocks it can come up with.

Twin River says it will only remain on schedule if unforeseen events, such as a lawsuit by the group, do not happen.
