The Righteous Brothers and casino nightlife icon Victor Drai will be honored October 10 with Casino Entertainment Legend Awards at the sixth annual Casino Entertainment Awards (CEA) at Las Vegas’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. A total of nine awards will be given.
The awards are sponsored by Global Gaming Expo (G2E) which will be happening concurrently. The Righteous Brothers (Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley) were the first rock and rock performers to play on the Las Vegas Strip, in 1964.
Some of their greatest hits include “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” and “Unchained Melody.” Hatfield died in 2003 and Medley revived the duo in 2016 at Harrah’s Las Vegas with singer Bucky Heard. The duo continues to perform.
Victor Drai has been acclaimed as the “father” of the casino after-hours scene. He founded the Las Vegas clubs Tryst and XS. He owns Drai’s Nightclub, the Beach Club and After Hours at the Cromwell. In 1997 he opened the original Drai’s After Hours at the Barbary Coast Hotel & Casino. He also produced the motion pictures “The Woman in Red,” “The Man With One Red Shoe” and the “Weekend at Bernie’s” films.
