Riverside Plans $10 Million Renovation

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved a $10 million investment by the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort (l.) to renovate the 11-year-old property. Located south of Iowa City, the project will include an LED light show at the center bar, a new hotel registration desk, plus remodeling the diner and grand entry.

In a unanimous vote, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission recently approved the Riverside Casino and Golf Resort’s request to invest million to update and remodel the property, located in Riverside, Iowa south of Iowa City. The IRGC must approve any contract over 0,000 at Iowa’s 19 state-licensed casino.

Improvements at the 11-year-old property will include updating the center bar with an LED light show replacing the water feature; moving the hotel registration desk to the rotunda outside Ruthie’s Steak House; remodeling the Ripple Diner with a bistro atmosphere; updating the grand entry; and installing new carpeting and wall coverings throughout the casino.

Construction will begin later this year and be completed by early 2018.

Riverside General Manager Dan Franz said, “We are excited about the changes coming to our casino and to our restaurants. We think our guests will love the updates and new features.”
