Romania’s Chamber of deputies has approved new online gaming regulations and sent them to Romanian President Klaus Iohannis for approval.
The draft changes licensing requirements in the country.
Iohannis is expected to approve the bill and Romania will officially be in the fully regulated European online gambling industry. Sites operating in the country may be located and licensed in Romania, but also headquartered within a European Union Member State or in Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or the Swiss Confederation under the amended law.
Meanwhile, Danish authorities have gotten the go-ahead from the European Commission to introduce a number of modifications to Denmark’s online gaming legislation, including full legalization of daily fantasy sports.
The new rules includes safeguards against money laundering, changes in taxes and the creation of a new license for daily fantasy sports operators.
Operators that generate revenue of more than KR100 million (€13.4 million/$15 million) will have to pay an increased license fee.
Danish officials hope the new rules will attract new operators to the country and help create new markets within the domestic industry.
