Romania Flags Illegal Online Gambling Sites

Romania’s National Office for Gaming has posted a list of 48 online gaming sites that it says are operating without authorization in the country.

Romania has blacklisted 48 online gambling sites as operating illegally in the country while announcing sites that now hold an interim license in the country.

NetBet, Stanley Bet, and Winmasters were among those holding current interim licenses. William Hill does not appear on either list as its last day of operations in the country was June 1.

According to reports, Bet365, PokerStars, and other sites are negotiating to pay back-taxes on up to five years of unlicensed operations and apply for interim licenses. Those licenses would allow operation through the calendar year and then allow applications for new 10-year licenses.

Among the casinos listed on the Romanian government website as operating illegally are several Casino Rewards properties such as blackjackballroom, along with bodog, carbon poker, clubworld, intertops, lasvegasusa, and slotland.
