Russia to Simplify Player ID Process

In Russia, a bill that would simplify player identification for online bets has passed a third reading by the state Duma and it now headed for the upper house of parliament.

The Russian Duma has sent a bill to the upper chamber of parliament that would simplify the player identification process for online bets. The document eliminates the need to identify online gamblers twice, once by a bookmaker and again by a processing center called TSUPIS.

According to the document, bookies can delegate the identification of new players directly to TSUPIS. The order said that “the complex, multi-step identification process is incomprehensible to the gambler, in some cases unfeasible, encourages players to search for ways to overcome government measures aimed at combating illegal gambling business in order to gain access to foreign sites subjected to blocking.”
